Happy Birthday Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.!
Today I had the great pleasure of watching the 50th Annual Commemorative Service for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr at the church he grew up in, here in Atlanta, Ebenezer Baptist Church. The service lasted about three and a half hours and it was filled with inspirational speakers including the keynote speaker his daughter, Dr. Rev. Bernice A King. There were religious leaders from different backgrounds vocalizing their admiration for Dr. King, gospel singers bringing praise and worship into the room and youth groups displaying and retelling his wisdom in a way that was spiritually moving. It made me really appreciate his legacy even more and a newfound hope in our country and our civil rights. I'm so happy that his legacy lives on in people of all races and backgrounds, it really resonates his message and his work that much more.
This is one of his quotes that resonates with me right now the most and inspires me to keep going.
"Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase"
