The Grammys 2017!
I was thoroughly entertained while watching the entirety of The Grammys. Adele was the star of the night, opening the show and winning in all of the categories that she was nominated for and praised Beyoncé while accepting the award for Best Album of the Year. There were some highlights of the night so lets get into it.
The host of The Late Late Show, James Corden was the host of the 59th annual award show. He introduced the show in a hilarious way, with falling down the steps and a Hamilton type rap. He did a great job hosting but in case you missed it, here's the clip of his intro.
It wouldn't be The Grammys without amazing performances that people will talk about for weeks. Notable performances for me were The Weeknd and Daft Punk performing "I Feel It Coming", Ed Sheerran showing off his musical/instrumental talents while performing "Shape of You" and Bruno Mars swooning the ladies with his background singers while singing "That's What I Like". Those were great but my top four were;
4.Beyoncé being the goddess that she is performing 2 songs and balancing herself on a chair leaning far down while pregnant with twins! (quality video unavailable)
3. A Tribe Called Quest with Anderson .Paak and Busta Rhymes, they had the whole audience engaged and standing the their feet. The energy in their performance was contagious and they really put on for the late great Phife Dawg, leaving an open mic for him and letting his verse play without rapping over it. Check it Out!
2. The full Prince Tribute with The Time and Bruno Mars. I loved how both performers really channeled their inner Prince but put their own personality on it as well. (full video not available, you know how Prince's people are about his music, lol)
1. Chance The Rapper, he really took everyone to church with Tamela Mann and Kirk Franklin performing "How Great". His love and faith shined throughout that performance and really left me feeling inspired. Chance had a great night overall. (There are multiple clips of the performance online but not the full performance)
Take some time to search for some of the other performances but overall I think the Grammys was a success this year and had a good amount of diversity. I look forward to being there next year as a reporter (fingers crossed) :)
